The Indian Centre for Space Physics (ICSP) recently hosted a prestigious conference titled ‘Human Space Endeavour and how to prepare for it’. It was attended by our BCA 5th semester student, Shivam Kumar Jha and our Students Coordinator, Ms. Anamika De Amin. The program offered a unique opportunity to explore the complexities of space science and India’s advancing role in cosmic exploration.
The highlight of the session was an insightful talk titled ‘My experience in Space: The Final Frontier’ by Chief Guest Gp Captain Subhanshu Shukla. As the first Indian astronaut to visit the International Space Station (ISS), he shared breathtaking photos and videos of his mission during his first visit to Kolkata since returning from orbit. His presentation covered the physiological and psychological challenges of life in space, potential solutions to problems on Earth, and the unique sense of fun experienced in a zero gravity environment.
The event also featured valuable contributions from ICSP Director Dr. Sandip Chakraborty and scientists from NASA and ISRO. Discussions focused on critical topics such as the solar neighbourhood, global warming, and the strategic roadmap for Mission Gaganyaan, which is India’s ambitious human space flight program. For the NIMS representatives, the interactive and instructive session was a mesmerizing experience, leaving them with a profound sense of global oneness and a clear vision of the future of human space missions.
